A note from Alhaj Sayyed Masoum Amiri, Head of the Liyan Amiri Foundation Main Office

The Liyan Amiri Foundation, as stated in its articles of association, is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit and independent foundation.

The Foundation is committed to serving according to the laws of the country, by observing all religious law and respecting the authentic culture of its people. The early core of the foundation was laid out in 1395 (solar year) and dispersed in a variety of fields - especially in the field of education - but it was formally founded on 29-12-1394 as a Foundation.

Therefore, the Foundation was officially registered in the Ministry of Justice of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (No. 1875) and obtained its license.

Before officially obtaining the Foundation's license, many friends commented on the name of the Foundation, most of which were not appropriate names.

Finally, after much thinking and searching, we unanimously named the first founder of the Foundation Child's name “Liyan”, on one hand meaning "brilliant", "glittering", "radiant" and "bubbly" and on the other hand being the name of the first and only daughter of mine, so we decided to name the Foundation "Liyan".

In the early days when the loved ones were kindly and carefully commenting on the Foundation's field of work, various opinions were raised.

Some said the foundation would work solely to assist street children and orphans, but when looked at carefully it was clear that providing street children with attention was a must, but it was beyond the reach of a foundation and an agency. It requires the long work and collaboration of several departments and foundations. Other friends also advised that the Liyan Amiri Foundation work specifically in the area of campaigning against drug addiction. But since this would detract from the full scope of its service and restrict its activity, it was abandoned.

Friends also thanked and advised that the Foundation helps in various sectors of culture, social, aid, etc., but this was also unacceptable to the Foundation's officials, since it was impossible to deal with all these parts, It would have made the foundation ineffective.

Finally, after much deliberation and counseling, we decided to focus much of the foundation's activities in the field of education, improving the education system, enhancing the quality of knowledge acquisition, standardizing schools, introducing the newest teaching methods, and so on. Accordingly, we focused much of the Foundation's activities on education, and chose "Efforts to Promote Knowledge" as the Goal and "Knowledge the Basis of Human Evolution" as the Foundation's Slogan.

Since the establishment of the Foundation, I have endeavored to do our utmost in harmony with the Directory of Education.

The principle of equality and equity in the donation of aids has been the main issue that we have in mind when distributing aid.

In the first year, although the foundation focused more on downtown schools, in the second year, most of the foundation's outreach was distributed to districts and schools outside the city.

Representatives of the Foundation have provided the districts with the most remote and insecure schools and provided the necessary materials. We are extremely pleased and happy to have been able to provide the most effective service to our country's education since the foundation's inception.

Insha'Allah (If God is willing), this year and next year we have stronger and more effective plans in our workplaces that we give the good news to our dear compatriots.

Building a nonprofit and standard school, covering tens of thousands of students, expanding the Foundation's activities to more provinces, donating studying materials to city and districts are the programs that are on our agenda for next year.

Certainly, these programs and the programs that have been implemented so far have been impossible without the cooperation of the education authorities and the schools authorities, and we continue to urge all those beloved and the public of our knowledgeable and cultured nation to be with us.

Consultation, solutions and criticisms will help us along this difficult path.
